Copic love

I spent the best part of a grey gloomy day on this and I'm pretty happy with the result.  I do have to add that I've attempted colouring this image no less than 10 times so it's not an "instant" success. But after doing Anne's Copic class at Fred The Needle I was inspired to give it another shot.
I'm still not too happy with my shading on the mushroom roof and the grass looks too flat, but practice makes perfect.  Methinks I also need more practice on light sources.

Working on a comeback...

Well a lot has happened in the last year...

Ovarian cancer took my mum in October last year, strangely enough on the day of Mary Mackillop's cannonisation. Mum was a Buddhist and very spiritual. I look at that day as another Saint Mary miracle...she saved my mum from further pain and suffering.

In the last year, I have tried to move a house full of stuff into an already full house. This involved many many skip bins and many weekends and evenings unpacking and cleaning. Almost a year on and we still have a lot of work to do in the house.

In February I took on a new role at work which meant I faced a very steep learning curve and a mountain of information to absorb. Even though I enjoyed the challenge, let's just say that my brain was starting to fry. As well as my brain beginning to sizzle I was also getting into the nitty gritty of planning my upcoming wedding (and still working on the house)!

So I took some time out to re-evaluate my life. After thinking about the fate of both my parents (both dying in their 60's) I decided that I needed to take the leap and quit working for a little while so I can focus on fixing up our house and fixing up my health.

I've started to pick up my crafting tools once again and can feel the creativity starting to come back. I'm hoping over the next few months I will have some projects to post about.
